I am a visual artist with a strong social conscience. I have illustrated environmental challenges in the Pacific Islands, captured the stories of refugee trauma and forced migration, and developed a daily art practice that tells a story of the world we live in through the life I see and live.
With classical training in typography and graphic communication from the University Reading (BA Hons), I went on to complete a Masters in Digital Design at Griffith University (Brisbane) and complete an award winning Doctorate, Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane). I explored the use of stories for social change and representing marginalised voices and generational trauma through Young Adult Literature. My graphic novel, ‘Broken Glass’, is in the final stages of production.
Having lived in the London, the Pacific Islands, Australia, Asia and more recently Italy, my artwork has multi-cultural influences. I have taught visual art and design at a number of academic institutions including: The University of Canberra, the National University of Samoa and the Queensland University of Technology. I have found the process of teaching clarifies ideas about visual creativity.
